Fritz Henningsen Danish Armchair – Fully Restored in Bute Tiree
A classic Danish armchair by Fritz Henningsen, dating from the 1940s–1950s and exemplifying the quality, craftsmanship and understated elegance associated with Henningsen's work.
The chair is built on a sturdy beech and pinewood frame with a hand-tied coil-sprung seat. It has been completely restored and traditionally reupholstered by Swaethe Furniture using natural coir, natural latex and wool.
The chair is upholstered in Bute Tiree in Swan, a beautifully textured upholstery fabric made from 92% pure new wool and 8% nylon.
About the chair
Fritz Henningsen was a Danish cabinetmaker and designer whose furniture is recognised for its exceptional craftsmanship, sculptural forms and use of high-quality natural materials.
This armchair has the substantial proportions and beautifully considered construction associated with Henningsen's work. The combination of the beech and pine frame, hand-tied coil-sprung seat and traditional upholstery gives the chair both a strong sense of authenticity and excellent comfort.
