1950s Danish Cabinet-Maker Armchair – Fully Restored in Camira Craggan Flax
A beautifully proportioned 1950s Danish cabinet-maker armchair, featuring a beechwood frame with exposed teak show wood. The chair has been completely restored and traditionally reupholstered by Swaethe Furniture using natural upholstery materials.
The restoration combines traditional upholstery techniques with natural coir, natural latex and wool, providing renewed comfort while retaining the character and craftsmanship of the original Danish furniture.
About the chair
This armchair is a good example of the understated craftsmanship associated with 1950s Danish furniture. The combination of a beechwood frame and exposed teak detailing gives the chair a warm Scandinavian character, while its compact proportions make it well suited to contemporary interiors.
As with many Danish cabinet-maker pieces of the period, the emphasis is on craftsmanship, honest materials and considered proportions, rather than unnecessary ornamentation.
